Today I wanted to share some of my favorite must have makeup products at the moment. There are endless amazing products out there and I love nothing more than trying new ones. I am notorious for buying a new product and quickly moving onto the next but below I have listed the ones that have stuck with me for the past few years now.
Primer
I’ve talked about this product on my Instagram already but the truth is that it makes ALL the difference. Primer is what turns your skin into a smooth, clean surface for a professional look. It fills in all the cracks, wrinkles and any imperfections. It is the same as preparing a fresh canvas with primer before applying the paint. You want to work on a smooth surface and that is basically what the primer does. It can run pricey but they tube will last for months and you only need a tiny pea size drop on your finger to spread across your face as you would any facial cream. I use Smashbox Primer!
Foundation
I have certainly tried my fair share of different foundations, experimenting with what works for my skin and what doesn’t. Some foundations I find that the second I step outside on a hot summer day, feels like my face is melting off because of heavy and thick oils. I finally discovered Chanel Vitalumiere liquid foundation that is water based, so it feels like you have nothing on your skin, yet it looks smoother than ever. This bottle can last me a full year (not sure if that exceeds expiration date or not), and you only need the tiniest drop to cover your entire face with a beauty blender.
Beauty Blender
Next, is the key piece to a perfectly blended face, with no streaks or caked on look. It is the one and only Beauty Blender which I highly recommend. One important tip while using the beauty blender is to make sure that you put it under water before using. You don’t want it to be soaking wet, but damp which helps blot the foundation around your face evenly. If the Beauty Blender isn’t damp then it probably won’t give you the flawless look you are going for.
Powder Foundation
Be certain when picking your foundations that you are properly matching to your skin tone. You don’t want to look too orange or too pale. They say to put some on the inner side of the forearm to match your true color. I use Chanel powder foundation which I use very minimally to take away any shine.
Eyebrow Pencil
Someone once told me that the most import part of doing makeup was filling out your eyebrows. For me this is crucial since I have always had tiny, and very thin eyebrows, so not much to work with. I was always envious of my sisters, who had thick full eyebrows. Fortunately, Anastasias Beverly Hills Brow Wiz has been my go to for many years now. It comes in many colors to perfectly match your natural hair color.
Highlighter
I only recently started using Benefit Highlighter on the cheek bone, and tops of my brow bone to make them pop. I have to say, I am finding such a small detail to make the world of a difference.
Bronzer
Last but not least, I have used a Make Up Forever Bronzer to contour my face for the past few years, but only recently learnt that I wasn’t properly applying it to the right spots in order to enhance your features. The best way to learn how to apply your makeup is by making an appointment at Sephora or MAC, and they will show you all the little tricks to help you learn what works best for your face shape. We all have different shaped faces, so what works on one may not work on another.
I hope this helps, I have linked each product I use below:).
